His head lifted when the other started to address him again.

      He was a bit SURPRISED the other seemed to be… somewhat helping, he supposed. His words were helpful, but he seemed more involved in whatever he was working on than actually paying attention to him. But then again, he couldn’t exactly expect that of him either. He didn’t know him, and most wouldn’t bother helping someone they didn’t know. Though he supposed his words were sort of uplifting.

He rubbed the back of his neck, looking down at the books for a moment. He wasn’t the type to simply waste time. If he had a task then he’d get it done before anything else, but it seemed that the other felt he should do otherwise. He let out a sigh and moved to stand up after putting the last of the books in the second box.

       “If you’re not busy, could you help me take one of these to the nurse? It’d be faster and I could get myself cleaned up… I could repay you with lunch or something, whatever you want.”

↳ ❂ ↰  Was this guy always so quick to do what other people told him to? For all either of them knew, he’d get reprimanded not only for dropping the books but for not getting the job done immediately as well. Kaeto’s words were only the mindless facade he put up to avoid trouble; he’d get in trouble for being rude, and anyone who knew him well understood why he wouldn’t physically help another person. They couldn’t fault him for that part.

He didn’t want to do anymore. It should have been obvious that he was busy, albeit he didn’t have class for another hour or so. His homework could, from a reasonable standpoint, wait a few minutes. That did nothing to stop him from wanting to walk off without another word. He had better things to do than help a stranger.

But he sighed. He sighed, tucked his pencil and paper in his bag, and bent down to pick up the box closer to him. “Whenever you’re ready.”
