↳ world’s best ↰:

Shoulders hitch up in a shrug, as if in unison with the arrogant curl of his lips. Many people rely on him —– but of course! He’s the pillar of the esteemed Armed Detective Agency, the only reason they can call their establishment a detective agency to begin with. In comparison to the others who have only gained the knowledge and skills thanks to watching his work, Edogawa Ranpo was an individual that could solve any case handed before him no matter how little the information he had.

Was an ability like this, to know the truth in anything set before him, not the greatest ability there is?

It’s fine, it’s fine!  He offers a wave of his hand at the boy’s apology, merely laughing it off before resting his hands on his hips.  Trust me, I know that when it comes to younger people, the police force doesn’t exactly listen to you…  Those words in itself bring a bitter taste to his tongue, something unpleasantly FAMILIAR in them that makes him want to grimace – but no, that would ruin how he carries himself. His mask is far too perfect to allow such a thing to happen to him.

All you can do is use the fact adults underestimate you to your advantage and make them regret it. Use what people look down on you for to fight back with.

   That’s what he does, anyway.

❛ Heheh~ As you should! I’m glad you acknowledge this!  Someone to stroke his ego – how fabulous.  My name is Edogawa Ranpo!! And yours is…? ❜

↳ ❂ ↰  Ah, so his word choice did him well. Certain people liked being in control of the situation, to have authority and being acknowledged as the best. In general, most of them had no reason to be praised highly, but the man in front of him certainly did prove himself worthy of that attention. As such, Kaeto made sure to speak in a manner that favoured his ego.

“I’ll be certain to keep that in mind, thank you.” Unfortunately, most adults didn’t underestimate him, a fact that somehow made his life that much more difficult depending on the position of said adult. It would have been nice for certain people not to think so highly of his intellect. “It’s not often anyone bothers to give me good advice.”

Now, he should really look into getting an actual phone because of such situations; if he got stopped like that again, at the very least, he’d be able to call and give his professors a heads-up on why and they could work around it accordingly. Hopefully they liked him enough to let one time slide.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir. My name’s Kaeto Easton.” He glanced at the crime scene where the police were clearing out the body and everything. A thought came to mind as he turned his attention back to the detective. “Hey, do you think they’d write me a pass for school if I asked them to? I had tests today, but I missed them ‘cause I had to stay here. Just so my professors know I didn’t skip on purpose.”

He didn’t want his guardian to berate him for it nor for his reputation to be damaged because the police refused to listen to him. Still, he supposed, even if they did, they would have taken him for more questioning. Or whatever they did with stuff like that.
