She had by no means expected the bracelet to shatter when she had struck with the force of, well, a gerbil at best, but that didn’t stop relief from washing over her soft features when it didn’t even budge. Truth be told, she had been terrified of embarrassing herself in front of the general student body, or worse yet, drawing attention to herself with this whole thing. She was stronger than most would give her credit for given her meek attitude, and small frame, and most certainly stronger than any normal human being should have been. And she had no intention of risking exposing this fact over something that very well could just be a cruel prank by hitting him any harder than she had. Though she doubted she could break it just be hitting it; it looked a bit more complicated than that, assuming she actually trusted this thing to be indestructible, and not intended for some silly joke. But medicine was her forte; not bizarre pieces of jewelry.

“N-no, I don’t want your money.” She quickly lowered her head, gathering her books back into the bulky order they had been stacked in moments ago. To be frank, she had only played along because there was an off chance she could someone with something, but her involvement had clearly accomplished nothing, and she felt guilty for even trying in the first place. “I-I’m sorry I couldn’t really do anything. I-I hope your experiment goes w-well, though.”

↳ ❂ ↰  It wasn’t that she couldn’t do anything–far from it. After all, even a paralysed toddler could hit harder than that pathetic display. While the natural assumption would be that she was afraid of hurting him, the bracelet was as wide as the medical textbook in her hands, and if she wanted to be a doctor, she’d better have better aim than to be so concerned. No, she didn’t want to hit hard because she was concerned about revealing something. Before the whole esper experiment, he may have passed it off as a silly thought. Now, though. It was a consideration.

“No, that’s fine.” He pocketed the money with a shrug. Oh well, if she didn’t want his money, then whatever. Should he ask about it? The thought of someone else with some unnatural ability hiding in plain sight at the college with him was exciting, to say the least. So what to do about it? For now, he decided to play it cool. Maybe befriend her and gain more clues along the way. Ah, but making friends was too much effort and he didn’t feel like it. It’d maybe please his guardian, but did anyone actually believe him to be capable of making friends? “I should be saying sorry for springing this on you, really. As an apology, I could help you out with something?”
